Who we are
HobbyStack (“we”, “us”) operates a hobby setup builder and Concierge planning service at hobbystack (this website). We help hobbyists discover and plan complete equipment stacks from trusted merchants.
Data we collect
- Waitlist signups: email address and optional hobby interest when you join our pre-launch waitlist.
- Concierge inquiries: name, email, optional phone number, hobby, budget range, timeline, and project brief when you request a discovery call.
- Accounts & loyalty ledger: if you sign in (via Clerk), we store your account identity and Brick Score loyalty events (points, badges, visit streaks) in our Neon Postgres database. Points cannot be edited from your browser.
- Saved setups: setup preferences and generated results stored locally in your browser (local storage). Not on our servers unless you explicitly share a link.
- Usage data: standard server and analytics logs may include IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring URL when you use the site.
How we use your data
- To respond to waitlist and Concierge enquiries.
- To operate the setup builder and improve our product.
- To send launch updates if you joined the waitlist (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- To comply with legal obligations and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Third-party services
Authentication is provided by Clerk. Account data is processed under Clerk's privacy policy. Loyalty ledger data is stored in Neon (Postgres) and used only to operate Brick Score rewards.
Form submissions (waitlist and Concierge) are processed by Formspree, a third-party form handler. Data you submit is transmitted to Formspree and forwarded to us by email. Formspree's privacy policy applies to their processing: formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy.
Product links may redirect you to external merchants. Those sites have their own privacy policies. Some outbound links are affiliate links and may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.
Cookies & local storage
We use browser local storage to remember your saved setups and builder preferences on your device. Brick Score points are not stored in local storage. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Formspree may use cookies or similar technologies for spam protection (including hCaptcha) when you submit a form. Clerk may set cookies required for authentication sessions.
Legal basis (UK GDPR)
We process personal data on the basis of: (a) your consent when you submit a form; (b) our legitimate interests in operating and improving HobbyStack; and (c) compliance with legal obligations where applicable.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or EEA, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing or request portability. You may also lodge a complaint with the ICO (UK) or your local data protection authority.
To exercise your rights, reply to any email you receive from us or submit a new Concierge inquiry requesting data access or deletion.
Data retention
Waitlist and Concierge records are kept for as long as needed to fulfil your request and for a reasonable period afterwards for customer support and legal compliance, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
Children
HobbyStack is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
